A hundred households, a hundred days, no waste

Campaign platform for a Dutch household waste experiment, run by ROVA

Context

The waste company ROVA asked more than a hundred households to live completely waste-free for a hundred days. The campaign had to let participants share what they learned with each other, and carry the experiment to a wider audience.

What I did

I did the UI/UX and front end of the platform where participants shared what they learned, in Angular, Bootstrap and SCSS on a C# MVC back end. It was built in the autumn of 2014, was online by December, and the hundred days began on 1 January 2015.

Outcome

100-100-100 won the ISWA Communication Award 2015, chosen from 17 projects in 11 countries. The jury singled out the platform that let participants tell the story themselves. The platform kept running for new editions: among them Oldebroek, Reimerswaal and a PlastiCircle edition, still in 2019.
